Karnataka’s Transport Department has unveiled its “Electric Highway” plan—a 600 km network of highways equipped with fast electric vehicle chargers every 50 km. Powered entirely by renewable energy, the project includes grid-connected solar canopies at service stations. Initial routes cover Bengaluru–Mysuru and Bengaluru–Mangalore. Infrastructure development is scheduled to complete by 2028. EV adoption across long-distance corridors is expected to increase, reducing range anxiety and lowering carbon emissions.
